Abstract
In this study, we analyzed about 40 years" challenge process and core strategy of Seojin Inc. It is a Korean Hidden Champion recognized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2017 as a leader in the development, manufacturing and distribution of domestic industrial measuring instruments. Since its inception in 1979, it has been a private company and has been established as a corporation by foreign joint venture with Nohken Inc., a well-known manufacturer of industrial measuring instruments in Japan, through early childcare process. With the map, we set out to introduce the advanced technology and management strategy out of the domestic handicraft base which was backward then. In order to overcome the gap between domestic and industrial environments, Seojin Instec have created a new evolutionary process through major revisions of all manufacturing items and management systems, and have succeeded in transferring new manufacturing technologies to Nokken, Japan. Seojin Instec are developing various products that can be applied to a wider range of industries through self-funding and government R&D funding. In this case study, we learned that there were four stages of evolution in the company"s strategic evolution. Up to now, it can be said that these developments were successful in the domestic market, but it is time for another challenge and strategy in the process of establishing global network. In this case, we will present the growth model of Korean SMEs and analyze their capabilities and strategies for developing as a global mid-sized company.
