Abstract

UNIQLO, which has the meaning of ‘unique, clothing warehouse’, was born in Hiroshima,Japan, in June 1984. Since then, UNIQLO was the fastest growing as the global clothing brand and also, became the famous global SPA(Specialty store retailer of Private label Apparel) fashion brand, which makes so-called 'fast fashion' possible. This case study analyzes UNIQLO's successful overseas market entry strategies in terms of international business. First of all, we discuss about how UNIQLO used standardization and localization strategy,outsourcing and partnership strategy on the process of planning and production and then how UNIQLO could enter in England, China and Korea market on the process of distribution and sale. Specially, we handle about how UNIQLO could success in Korea market after this company entered Korea through a joint venture with Lotte. In the end, this case provides the understanding of fast paradigm shift in the fashion industry and gives a big help in learning of entry mode strategies and global competition strategies in terms of international management issues.
