The Case of CJ Hellovision’s Creating Shared Value

Abstract
In the recent management environment where the importance of win - win cooperation is increasing, creating shared value (CSV) attracts much attention as a good alternative to enhance the authenticity of corporate social contribution activities. This case study examines the activities of CJ HelloVision, which is actively promoting shared value creation activities among domestic companies. CJ HelloVision, which occupies the largest share of the domestic cable TV business, has been making efforts to create shared value by focusing on three business activities (Ear Dream Service, Hello Announcement Alert, Hello Korean TV Classroom). CJ Hellovision identified socially isolated people’s problem and attempted solve their problem by using their business capabilities. First, CJ Hellovision provides a better digital media service for visually handicapped people by using their improved media platform capabilities. Second, CJ Hellovision also attempts to protect unattended deaths of senior people who lives alone by analyzing their TV watching pattern, discovering unusual symptom, and notifying unusual situation to their family. In addition, CJ Hellovision educates local people and support small business people by using integrated medla edcation system. Using FSG’s created shared value process guide, this case study analyzed and evaluated CJ hellovision created shared value process. As a result, overall CJ Hellovision is doing a good job to start although their performance should be more accurately measured in the future. Through this case study, we learn how to execute a plan to improve creating shared value.
