Abstract
The purpose of this study pays attention to the importance of employee benefit programs and this study analyzes IKEA Korea which effectively shows the effects of such benefit programs. Based on this purpose, we firstly introduce the total rewards theory and the types of employee benefit programs, and revisit the values of employee benefit programs which underestimated the output versus input in terms of total rewards. Next, in order to specifically analyze the case of IKEA Korea, the historically developmental processes, the current situations, organizational culture, and core values of IKEA as the root of IKEA Korea in advance. Based on these discussions, this study suggests employee benefit programs of IKEA by grouping each practices which are designed by organizational culture and core values. Moreover, this study discusses that which aspects of IKEA benefit programs have strengths in talent acquisition and retention. In addition, considering that there is no perfect system in the world, this study summarizes the issues related benefit programs that IKEA Korea currently and potentially faces. And lastly, this study proposes the implications of the IKEA Korea case to be helpful for Korean companies which consider the design and the implementation of the better employee benefit programs.
