Abstract

Profit-sharing between buyers and suppliers has emerged as one of the most important topics in a recent Korean society. This research identifies a number of issues that must be addressed, including the validity and acceptability of excess-profit-sharing practices within the context of today's competitive market, the differences of excess-profit-sharing and benefitsharing, the attitudes of the buyers and suppliers on the profit-sharing practices, and the pivotal role of government as facilitator of spreading the profit-sharing practices. Survey and semi-structured interviews are presented that outline how the buyers and suppliers are satisfied on the profit-sharing practices and what are the most urgent and important tasks of the government. The findings demonstrate that benefit-sharing is far more suitable for the Korean networks than excess-profit-sharing, and the benefit-sharing does not spread without the government‘s proper role.
